John started his career in an account executive role in the Midwest with Advantage Medical. After 3 years in a account executive capacity, he transitioned to a project support role with Avant Healthcare and became a digital project manager, leading webpage and video campaigns for such pharmaceutical clients as Lilly, Novartis, and AbbVie. In this role, John became well-versed in PMI methodology and grew confident managing complex timelines and budgets. Now with Near the Box, he is becoming a subject matter expert in product management, also spearheading the company’s partnerships initiatives and helping early-stage start-ups with growth direction.
From building trading platforms on Wall Street to working on surgical robots, Michael is an ex-Googler who has always felt the itch for entrepreneurship. His career began at large companies, where he observed different management and development styles at scale. These experiences showed him how companies should operate as they grow larger, and his learnings have been invaluable as he has applied that knowledge at smaller companies.

The key to building great products not only lies within great engineering and design but also in product management and communication. We begin each project with a Requirements Gathering phase, during which we assess the scope, understand the user journey, align on initial wireframes, and build a product roadmap. Through understanding requirements and identifying bottlenecks and decision-makers, this initial phase allows us to form a roadmap to the project’s completion.
The next phase is Rapid Prototyping, where we leverage a build-first mindset to get data to inform future iterations. We utilize a Build, Measure, and Learn process at this stage. Ultimately, we identify milestones along the way and initiate regular meetings to share progress, gather feedback, and keep the project moving. Our clients are always in the loop and aware of any next steps or outstanding action items throughout the project.
